Customize Your Dollhouse by Using Your Very Own Dollhouse Plans
Building a dollhouse can be lots of fun, especially if you love arts and crafts, decorating, or even if you are just an architect want-to-be. But one of the first questions you will ask yourself is: Should I use a doll house kit or make my own doll house plans? The answer to the question really depends on you, on how unique you want your doll house to be, and on how much time you have to put into it. Making a dollhouse from scratch will take up quite a bit more time. You also want to consider how much money you want to put into the project.
The Time Factor
Building your own dollhouse from your own plans can be very rewarding, and you will end up with a very original doll house, but you need to think about how much time you have to invest in the Project. You also need to look at your abilities. Are you a skilled carpenter and do you have the right tools? If you do, then of course you will want to build your doll house from scratch.
If you have the time, or are willing to prolong your project, and are willing to find the right plans, draw them out to the size you need, cut everything you need to the size you need, and are willing to take the time to get all the measurements right, then you should. When you create a dollhouse from scratch, then your dollhouse will be more unique and original.
The Disadvantages
Of course, if you are under a time constraint or are not that good with carpenter tools, then you probably want to get a dollhouse kit. Putting together a dollhouse from a kit takes a lot less time, less cutting, because everything is pre-made.
The problem is you don’t have a dollhouse that is very unique or different when you build it from a kit, and you cannot really customize it to your needs.

Obviously, the money you put into a custom built doll house is going to depend on the type of materials you use. But if you are taking the time to do it this way, then you probably want to buy the best woods and materials you can. After all, you want a dollhouse that can become an heirloom.

You can find lots of free doll house plans in every kind of shape online. You can find chalets, and castles, American homes, antique homes, and anything you want. Most online plans give you the scale to work in and the types of materials you will need.
