this is probably a very weird/stupid question?
but how did dogs become “miniature” or “standard”
as in poodles and doberman pinschers
No question is stupid. Min. Pins are in NO way related to Dobermans. I’m not actually sure that alot of smaller breed other than Poodles and a few other breed that range from tea cup to giant got that way. Try to research the breed in question. Like Dobe’s are originally brought to by Grey hounds, Rotties, Manchester Terriers, I also think Whippet may be in there and some other I’m sure. Sorry if this wasn’t what you were looking for but maybe it gave you some idea of where to start.
